Negotiation between the committee and Alcoa management to move towards the sale of the factory continues to be blocked

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, Jan 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Negotiations between the committee and Alcoa’s management to advance towards the sale of the Cervo (Lugo) factory remain blocked after the meeting held this Friday, which lasted only about 10 minutes.

The workers’ representatives presented a counterproposal to the company and it has warned that “it differs very substantially from what was previously agreed.”

The talks are stalled in this way without the committee having suspended for the moment the strike that has been going on for more than three months, a suspension that for Alcoa is a condition to sit down to negotiate the sale through the state company of industrial holdings (SEPI ).

“Alcoa has always been open to dialogue with both employee representatives and institutional representatives, acting in good faith and maintaining its commitment to ensure the best possible result for both parties,” said the president, Álvaro Dorado, in a communication sent to the staff after the brief meeting of this day.

For its part, the committee raised the option of going to mediation or arbitration in the event that its counterproposal was not accepted by the management. At the moment there is no new date for both parties to sit down again.
